The Aztec economy was a barter system that used cotton textiles and cacao beans as its main currency. The Cacao beans were used to make a hot chocolate drink which was onloy drank by nobles. The Aztecs conducted trade with the Tarascan empire. They traded obsidian in exchange for bronze and copper.

Aztec culture and society
There were two main classes in Aztec society, The nobles( pilli) and the commoners (macehualli). In the late teens boys could join the military or start practicing their profession and girls could become priestesses or raise children at home. The Aztecs celebrated the rain and fire along with variety of festivals for celebrated emperors and the most popular gods.

The Aztecs convenient position in Central America allowed to trade wide and far outside of the Mexican Basin. Their trade reached to all corners of central America.

The Aztecs had a polytheistic religion. There is also a hierarchy of the gods. The main three gods were huitzilopochtili, Tezcatlipoca, and Quetzalcoatl. The Aztecs performed humansacrifices in order to satisfy their gods whom they believe find nourishment through human blood. An important aspect of the ritual includes taking out the living heart and burning it. Thye Aztecs believed these rituals brought peace and balance to the world.
